Firstly we will give you a guide who will prioritise your children being sure it is about them. This of course does not mean everything is watered down but it is about engagement and involvement so this tour will be very enjoyable for all the family. We will see all the usual highlights and a few exceptional areas that we know kids love. The first thing we like to explain to children and adults alike is that it is important to remove a couple of misconceptions. Firstly, although named as Vatican Museums, it is not what people expect of a museum. What we have is a palace that has set aside some areas for displays, mostly though you will be passing through parts of the palace or old palace apartments such as the Raphael rooms which have been opened up. So do not expect to see room after room of dusty antiques. Secondly it is not about religion. There is no museum of Catholic History in the Vatican. It is for everyone of every age. Prepare to be amazed and mostly to enjoy.
Your tour will begin as you meet your personal child friendly guide at the Vatican entry. We will have direct access tickets so you will not wait in line. Your guide will very soon be showing you around the best areas of this huge museum and, along the way, your guide will also use visual aids to bring things to life even more for your children.
As we guide you and your children through the maze that is The Vatican Museums, we particularly will be selecting some areas that will get them questioning how? Without the aid of computers can this happen. We will have your kids looking at some exhibits questioning their eye to brain coordination. Artists and craftsmen from five hundred years ago will confuse them in a very nice way. Soon we will be immersed in ancient civilisations, Etruscan, Roman, Greek and we may even meet a real life dead mummy along the way. Taking in the most interesting galleries we are able to keep the interest at a high level. Tapestry gallery will amaze you and your children as you experience the illusory effects created by the incredible craftsmen. Incredible lifelike statues hammered out of marble by the Masters. And of course priceless Masterpieces everywhere. The last place we will see inside The Vatican will be the Sistine Chapel. The Masterpiece of fresco art by none other than Michelangelo. You and your children will want the answers of how this was possible, we have them for you.
As we leave there, we are able to use a special passage that will take us to St Peter’s Basilica and all its wonders inside. Although it is reputed to be the world’s biggest Catholic Church in some ways the size is dwarfed by its beauty inside.
We will finish with the huge astoundingly beautiful St Peter’s square with Bernini’s colonnades and your guide will still have a thing or two left to amaze you all before you go.
Maybe it is an Italian thing but we believe that the most important people are children, not just ours but any children. We treat friends and relatives children the same as we treat our own. We take them out with us when we meet friends for dinner and rarely use babysitters. We just love kids.
So please let us spoil yours for a few hours and sure, you come along too.
