Have you ever wondered why Ancient Romans were ahead of other Ancient civilizations? The answer is quite simple: water. Basic necessity for life and civilizations, water in Rome can be found at any corner, be it splashing from baroque fountains, or simply pouring down from the "nasoni". Join us on an exclusive walking tour and discover the most beautiful fountains of Rome!
Your tour will begin in Piazza del Popolo. Home to the Fontana dei Leoni, Piazza del Popolo is the emblem of Valadier's urbanisation in three dimension, linking the heights of the Pincian hill to the width and length of the piazza. From here your guide will lead you towards Piazza di Spagna, passing by Via del Babuino. Famous for its boutiques and high end brand stores, Via del Babuino takes its name after the baboon that silently sits there.
Our next stop is Piazza di Spagna. Enjoy the view of the Spanish steps, and the beauty of Bernini's Barcaccia fountain. From here, your guide will lead you towards the Trevi Fountain, passing by the ruins of the Aqueduct of the Acqua Vergine, dating back to the 1st Century BC.
Known by all for its unique beauty and for being the main set for Fellini's movie La Dolce Vita, the Trevi Fountain is one of the most popular attractions in Rome. However, the lesser known underground city of water, is truly something spectacular. Once you've tossed a coin in the fountain, your guide will lead you towards the Vicus Caprarius, known also as the City of Water. This underground imperial structure was brought to light only a few decades ago, and was used during the Imperial times as a passageway for the Aqueduct Vergine, which, like the subway, was all underground. Discover the beauty of this underground hidden gem, and get a better understanding of the mastermind behind Roman hydric urbanisation. Book now and live a unique experience!
